Ard, Wood, Holcombe & Slate Architects and Planners (AWHS) would like to announce the completion of the newly constructed educational facility, Taylors Elementary School. The K-5th grade two-level facility was built on the site of the original school while maintaining an active site and totaled 96,930 SF upon completion. Upon entering the school your attention is immediately drawn to the colorful floor patterns and tower designed with tinted glass that positions different reflections on the floor that changes with the time of day. The floor pattern of the school not only provides an attractive walking surface, but it also acts as a way finding device for students as well as visitors to the school. The corridors also have a continuous stripe, which leads to the exit doors to aide in evacuation in the event of an emergency. Specifically designed specialty rooms offered are a Speech and Hearing Lab, Reading Lab, Science Lab, Computer Lab, Media Center, Art Room, Music Room, Physical Education, and Multi-Purpose Room. The nominal classroom capacity is 850 students. There are six(6) kindergarten classrooms totaling 7,494 SF and thirty-two(32) grade classrooms totaling 30,350 SF.
