Pelham Road Elementary

Ard, Wood, Holcombe & Slate Architects and Planners (AWHS) would like to announce the completion of the newly constructed educational facility, Pelham Road Elementary School. The K-5th grade two-level facility was built on the site of the original school while maintaining an active site and totaled 89,097 SF upon completion. The interior of the school was designed to provide a positive environment for both the students and the faculty of the school. The floor pattern of the school not only provides an attractive walking surface, but also acts as a way finding device for the students as well a visitors. The floor is patterned by assigning each grade level colors in their respective wing of the school. The corridors also have a continuous stripe which leads to the exit doors to aide in evacuation in the event of an emergency. A large atrium that is centrally located offers lots of natural light that acts as a common area for the students and staff. Specifically designed specialty rooms offered are a Media Center (6,137SF), Multi-Purpose Activity Area (3,456 SF), Art Lab (1,000 SF), Science Lab (1,000 SF).
